Karmak Technology Conference & Expo 2005 a resounding
success

The conference also was an excellent opportunity
for Karmak to touch base with its customers and ensure that future releases are
on the right track from a customer perspective. Karmak designers presented the
features customers can expect in the next ProfitMaster releases that are
currently in development: Service Management, KOLD, and Lease/Rental. The
Design team also held roundtable discussions to solicit customer input on the
future Parts/Inventory and Accounting modules.
The closing session, which was held at the Saint
Louis Science Center, was a fun way to wrap up the week. Customers and
employees alike were able to network and enjoy an evening of “play.” After a
cocktail reception in the Structures area, which is a hands-on area focusing on
building and construction, everyone was treated to dinner under the stars in
the Science Center’s Planetarium. After a fantastic star show, the group was
given unlimited access to the Science Center to get out and play.
During the Science Center dinner,
representatives from Karmak’s Training Center held a drawing. Winners included:

Although Karmak presented a lot of information
on new and upcoming products, the conference had ample training, information,
and help desk opportunities for its Legend and INFO 5 products.
Customers had a lot of good feedback as a result,
too. Here are some samples:
"In the past, I have only attended the WD
conferences. I think it was nice to see full classes. The feedback from other
customers was beneficial to me as well. I always pick up one or two new pieces
of information at conference. I plan to attend future conferences." – Michael Kurjata, Crane Carrier (Legend)
"I was very impressed with conference, and with
how interested Karmak is with our business and business needs. Most of all, the
Karmak employees were impressive: they are caring, interested in making our
business better. The roundtable discussions, where you asked for our input,
showed that you care about our business. There was a good balance of free and
classroom time. Conference was very well organized. I came away very positive
and only wished that more of our employees could have attended. I am looking
forward to next year’s conference. As a result of conference, we are
considering additional training for our employees. We think that Karmak’s
training is very economical and Karmak offers quality training." – Sandra Willing, Nalley Motor Trucks (INFO 5)
"This was the first conference that I had
attended in over 6 years; we were having consultants come to our site rather
than going to conference. I definitely see a need for both. Been on the
system since 1994, and consider myself fairly knowledgeable in the programs,
especially in parts. I was amazed at how much I learned at conference."
"Great conference, learned a lot, definitely
think we will utilize both consulting and conference in the future. I would
like to attend at least every other year. Karmak has the best staff I have
ever worked with in a situation like this. Everyone was very helpful. Can’t
say that I have any complaints at all. You [Karmak] put on a great
conference." – Gwen Cronlund, TrailerCraft, Inc. (Legend)
As always, we have some “tweaking” to do in our
quest for continuous improvement! We are considering overlapping a day for the
Executive and Power Track attendees, and we have already made the decision to
move the OEM breakouts into a spot later in the week. We always take the time
to read your surveys, but if you have other suggestions you’d like to make,
please feel free to let us know.
The dates we have reserved for next year are
October 22-27, 2006, at the Pavilion Hotel in St. Louis.
