visits Australia

During their trip Jim and Nancy tried to give landlocked Karmakians a taste of the Southern Hemisphere through several tantalizing emails. "It seems strange that the further north you go in the country, the warmer it is," noted Nancy. "It's also weird driving east and having the sun to the north instead of the south." Jim and Nancy sampled some native delicacies, as would be expected, but one can only be so courageous. "Vegemite is a popular food," wrote Nancy. "It is a yeast extract that looks like axle grease and has a horrible taste. We did try grilled kebobs of camel and kangaroo . . . they didn't taste like chicken."
Although they spent a lot time in the air, this mode of travel didn't get them everywhere they needed to go.
"All together we drove about 1,600 kilometers in Australia," said Jim.
After a memorable thirteen-hour flight from Los Angeles to Sydney, the Schiens boarded a plane the next day to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, to prepare for a meeting with 17 dealers from Australia and New Zealand.
