Communications--What kind of connection to your branch will work best for your situation: point-to-point phone line, frame relay, Virtual Private Network, wireless? Most often, your long distance provider can help with this, but call early. Not having a communication line is the most common reason for missing the target date for a branch-add.
Hardware--Which type of devices will be used at the branch: PCs or dumb terminals? What about printers? What communications hardware will be required between the branch and the main location?
Data--Does the branch have an existing business system and does the data on that system need to be converted and imported to your Karmak system?
Business System Setup--How will your new branch be set up in relation to your existing business system? Do you need to have a new set of data files or a new library built? Will the branch share a general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, unit inventory, work orders or payroll?
Training--How will the users at the branch be trained in the Karmak system? Will they be sent to a Karmak workshop? Will Karmak need to send people to the branch?
It becomes obvious that to cover all of the above points will require sufficient advance preparation. The first step in any successful branch-add is a call to Karmak Sales. Karmak can start the process to give you a realistic timeline for adding a new branch and can help you successfully bring your new branch live.
