Special Message to All Karmak Customers

The employees at Karmak want to extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims in last month's tragic events. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. 

We also want to pledge our support for the President and Congress as they work to restore a degree of normalcy to our country and the world. They have requested that companies return to "business as usual" and Karmak is committed to that goal.

To support that effort, we want to confirm that the Karmak Dealers' Conference 2001 will go on as scheduled on October 18-20, 2001 in St. Louis. To those of you who have registered for the conference, we look forward to seeing you there.

Legend
This fall brings the Training Center to Toronto, as well as our regular sessions in Carlinville, IL.  Check out the Legend Training Center schedule for 2001. New classes include Legend Accounting Basics (for those without an accounting background) and Prospect Marketing. If you are interested in a class that is not listed, please contact Barbara Mitchell, Manager of Training (1-800-252-7625).

INFO 5 
The INFO 5 Training Center schedule is now available through May 2002.  All workshops are held at Karmak's office located in Springfield, Missouri. September's Controller/Administrator Workshop has been rescheduled for November 14-15, 2001. If you don't see the class you would be interested in attending, please contact Jerry Osborn, Manager of Support Services (1-800-865-8991)

What's New at Karmak?

New modules added to KOLD - Legend report archiving

KOLD - Karmak OnLine Documents

KOLD has been enhanced with new modules that add further versatility to this cost-saving document management system. 

  • CD-ROM module allows you to archive documents to CD-ROM for auditors, offsite viewing, or disaster recovery.
  • Notation module allows you to modify documents by highlighting text, adding comments or stamps such as "Approved" or "Sold".
  • WEBBMAN module lets you easily perform many system management tasks from your Internet Explorer browser.

Legend customers using KOLD are already seeing significant savings on paper, supplies, storage space, and labor to print, distribute, store, and retrieve their Legend reports. For many customers, savings on paper alone will surpass the cost of KOLD in less than a year. Use our Paper Analysis form to see typical costs and figure your own savings. (You'll need Microsoft Excel; if prompted for a password, just click Cancel until the form opens.)

ProfitMaker website

ProfitMaker enhancements
Make it easier for customers to buy from you

ProfitMaker works with your Karmak system to automate ordering so you can fill orders more efficiently, save time in the Parts Department, improve customer satisfaction, and increase profits.  We listened to what your customers want, and added the following new features to help make YOU their preferred supplier: 

  • Demo Database--installs a demo database that does not affect the customer's database This allows them to see ProfitMaker's features without loading their own data, and serves as a handy reference as they start to work with ProfitMaker.
  • Price File Update--allows customers to import a vendor price file and update list price and/or cost for matching part records in the Inventory File.
  • Custom Reports--allows customers to add custom reports, or replace existing reports with their own version.

Frank Halbert
Karmak welcomes new Regional Manager

Frank Halbert recently joined the Karmak sales team as the Regional Manager covering Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Frank brings with him more than ten years of experience in the heavy-duty truck industry. He most recently worked as a general manager for Industrial Power in Longview, Texas. Frank also worked for Western Star where he was responsible for opening all new dealerships and installing sales systems. This position evolved from a prosperous consulting company he and his wife started years earlier. 

Frank has been a longtime supporter of Karmak systems and has helped several dealerships become more profitable by utilizing their Legend reports.


Quick response aids customer after fire

On Sunday morning, August 12, Karmak staff learned that a fire had destroyed facilities at Duke's Truck Center in Anderson, Indiana. Within 24 hours, Duke's Legend system was up and running again due to the immediate action and diligent efforts of the Karmak team. 

Duke's controller, Teddi Mangas-Coon, called Karmak on Sunday morning to report the fire of the previous evening. "I couldn't believe that someone was here with a system later that same day," she said.

Karmak website has a new look

Karmak's website at www.karmak.com has been recently redesigned to make it easier for visitors to find information on Karmak's products and services.  We kept pages you may have marked, such as training, conferences, and Customer Confidential, but now they are easier to locate from any page. We've also added a What's New? section with information on the latest add-on products for your Karmak system.

Dedicated Internet access enhances your Legend system

Do you have dedicated Internet access?  If not, your company is missing out on Karmak products and services that help reduce downtime, cut costs, and increase productivity.

When you have a problem, dedicated Internet access lets various Support groups access your system at the same time. This means your system can be diagnosed and corrected faster, with less disruption. We can also send you fix programs the same day, rather than sending a tape the next day and incurring shipping charges.

Internet access allows you to receive Vendor Price File Updates via FTP. You save shipping charges and time waiting for CDs or tapes.
