What's New at Karmak?

INFO 5 ProfitMaker interface
Karmak is pleased to announce that ProfitMaker now interfaces with the INFO 5 business system.

ProfitMaker allows your customers to:

  • track parts inventory
  • calculate purchase orders
  • track labor and parts for repaired units
  • bill out parts and repair invoices
  • generate more than 80 management reports with many options
  • send orders electronically to your AS/400. This makes you their easiest source of supply, potentially increasing your market share
  • create a list of parts they want to check and ask ProfitMaker to send the list to your INFO 5 system, which will respond with that customer's price and indicate if the parts are available. Once the parts are invoiced on the Karmak system, the customer can pick up an auto-receiving file with prices and descriptions that are then updated in ProfitMaker.
  • interface QuickBooks 2001 to ProfitMaker

For more information visit the ProfitMaker website. You may also contact Kim Scott in the INFO 5 Sales Department (1-800-865-8991).

Legend spring WD Conference a success

The new format at last month's WD Conference was deemed a success by the customers and employees in attendance. The conference, which was held March 14-16 at the Downtown Marriott in St. Louis, Mo., featured industry experts speaking on a variety of topics. In addition, the Legend system classes were targeted toward advanced users, and roundtable discussions Friday afternoon centered around how newer technologies could help customers carry their businesses into the future.

Karmak's eCommerce software allows you to easily exchange documents with suppliers and customers via the Internet through exchange services such as Corcentric, DIcentral or HDeXchange. But just what does that mean for your bottom line?

The eCommerce section of Karmak's website breaks down the recommended steps for implementing eCommerce in non-technical terms, and explains their direct benefits to your business. The site provides an overview of Karmak's eCommerce module, eCommerce with suppliers, and additional options including price updates from suppliers, Vendor Managed Inventory, and eCommerce with customers.  Click here to find out how eCommerce can take cost out of the supply chain. Hot Tips

Legend - Using A/P special codes

  • You can use the Special Code field in Accounts Payable Entry (AP100) to group any vendor invoices for tracking total costs related to some project. For example, costs related to hosting an open house may come from a variety of vendors and be recorded to different expense accounts - such as advertising, travel and entertainment, or janitorial expense. By coding these invoices when they are entered, you will receive a summary by special code at month-end, allowing you to track common costs for this project.

INFO 5 - Changing unit number on a work order

  • You can easily change a unit number attached to a work order by using the Option U next to the work order on the main work order processing screen. Clients often call Support looking for a quick way of changing the unit number on a work order. The description next to the U is "WO Equipment" so perhaps users forget that "Equipment" means "unit" and they don't attempt this. Turns out those clients are in the habit of zeroing out the repair order, billing it for $0 and then opening a new work order. The U option is a much more efficient way to correct this problem.

ProfitMaker - Setting up assemblies

  • Q: Can I set up assemblies in ProfitMaker?
A: You can set up a Repair Task that has a Parts List with the assembly parts attached to it. ProfitMaker will then update inventory with the parts and quantities on the list. However, if you want to sell multiples of this Repair Task you would have to add it multiple times to the Repair Order.  Another solution is to set up a list of the assembly parts in the comments section of the Parts Maintenance window. However, the list is just for reference and does not automatically update inventory. You would still need to enter each part with a quantity when creating a Sales Order or a Repair Order.
