  Training: Karmak Legend® - INFO 5® - ProfitMaker®

Legend
Check out the new Legend Training Center schedule for our current offerings. Our most popular workshops will be held at Karmak Headquarters in Carlinville, Illinois, including classes in System Management, Inventory Control, and Lease and Rental. INFO 5
The INFO 5 Training Center schedule is now available for summer and fall 2003. New offerings include classes for new hires in Accounting, Counter Processing, and Services Processing.  Management-level training includes basic and advanced Parts and Service classes. ProfitMaster Sales Management improves sales operations 
For Legend and INFO 5 dealers

Karmak's new Sales Management module provides dealers with powerful tools to help increase sales, save time, and improve total sales department efficiency. The easily navigated menus allow you to generate quotes, purchase orders, deal forms, and invoices quickly. Accounting is automated and fully integrated with your Karmak Legend or INFO 5 business system. The user-friendly interface eliminates typing text commands and entering unit data multiple times.

ProfitMaster Bar Code Receiving raises efficiency

Karmak’s Bar Code Receiving module has been widely used by dealers and distributors for the past ten years. The latest version of Bar Code Receiving, part of Karmak’s ProfitMaster series, will soon be available. The module utilizes industry-standard technology from Microsoft by taking advantage of the Windows Pocket PC 2002 operating system running on hand-held PC devices available from respected suppliers such as Intermec. The convenience and durability of hand-held PCs offer significant time and cost savings.

INFO 5 Release 7.1A now in general release
As of April, 2003, INFO 5 Release 7.1A is now in general release. Click the links below to see some of the enhancements since Release 7.1:

7.1A enhancements

Release 7.1A is available for all clients who have loaded Release 7.1. You will not be able to upgrade to Release 7.1A unless your operating system is V4R5MO or higher and Release 7.1 is already installed on your system.
Once Karmak has verified that you have loaded and installed 7.1, the Release 7.1A Update Manual will be shipped to you. This manual contains an overview of program fixes and enhancements, upgrade instructions, and excerpts explaining several of the enhancements. You will need to complete the order form that is included with the manual to order your 7.1A Update CD. Karmak will send you the update CD three to five days before the date you plan to install 7.1A, which you will need to indicate on the order form.
Along with the update CD, a new version of the FIDO documentation CD will be sent to you, and will contain in-depth explanations of each of the new 7.1A features.

Web-based support and training offers benefits for ProfitMaster and ProfitMaker users

Karmak’s Windows products offer many advantages, including new browser-based support and training options. All you need is an Internet connection to a PC running your ProfitMaker or ProfitMaster system to engage in interactive, online meetings with our Customer Services team. Technology from WebEx™ allows two-way viewing and control of remote computer screens, while you talk over the phone with a Customer Services representative.

Legend - Printing alternate invoice message descriptions

If a job has an Alternate Accounting code attached to it, you can print that Alternate Accounting code on the hardcopy by setting Line 22 in REPAIR:RS120_DEVICE_#.DAT (branch specific) to Y.

By using the program Warranty Message File Maintenance (RS951), you can assign Alternate Accounting codes their own invoice description instead of all of them printing "Above being submitted for warranty approval." For example:  Alternate Accounting code N1, New Truck Department, can be set to print "Submitted to the New Truck Department"; CT, Caterpillar Warranty, could print "Caterpillar Warranty";  and 10, Service Policy, could print "Service Policy Adjustment" for clarification on the invoice.

INFO 5 - Reflection session shortcuts

When you have multiple Reflection sessions open, in addition to one or more other applications (Word, etc.), and you want to only switch between the Reflection sessions, you can press the ALT and N keys simultaneously to move only between the Reflection sessions and bypass the other open applications.

To switch between all sessions (Reflection plus other applications) you can press the ALT+TAB to move forward from one session to the next. To move backward between your open sessions, press SHIFT+ALT+TAB (this is useful when you are trying to move to another session and you pressed ALT+TAB one too many times). Entering SHIFT+ALT+TAB moves you back to the previous application without having to go all the way to the end and start over.

ProfitMaster Sales Management - Single-click or double-click?

Sales Management takes a major step forward by moving into the Windows environment. The Windows environment utilizes what is known as a graphical user interface (GUI). In GUI applications, the mouse is used to navigate through the program. Part of the navigation process includes pressing a button on the mouse, referred to as "clicking." Most of the time a single-click is all that is required to perform an action in Sales Management. If a single-click is all that is required, double-clicking can result in invalid information being created on the system. So how do you know when to single-click and when to double-click?
