  Training: Karmak Legend® - INFO 5® - ProfitMaker®

Legend
The Karmak Training Center is again providing a full schedule of training options to help your employees become even more productive. Regional training has been scheduled for Toronto, and a new class, Accounting New Hire Workshop, has been developed. This new offering will cover Legend system accounting background and basics, as well as basic Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions. Check the Training Center schedule for details. Documentation gets a new look
Karmak’s ProfitMaker and Sales Management packages contain detailed and comprehensive on-line help, as will the soon-to-be-released Director Series. The answers to your questions are only seconds away and are available by clicking on the help icon while you are in the application. You can quickly access searchable help, or help specific to the field you are in. In addition to the on-line help files, you will soon be able to run on-line tutorials that will walk you through the application that you are learning. Tutorials are being developed, starting with the Sales Management product, and you will be able to access them from a link on the Karmak website. These new on-line tools are just another way that Karmak is striving to make your working environment more efficient.

New features for INFO 5 Volvo dealers
Volvo clients now have the ability to access functionality currently available in Mack modules.
  • Clients using Volvo Fleet Force cards can now use the MackCharge functionality. Setup involves creating a payment type for Volvo Fleet Force. Once this payment type has been set up, clients will be able to charge invoices to this Volvo Fleet Force payment type. Volvo Fleet Force will utilize the same End-of-Day procedures as MackCharge.
  • Volvo Parts Locator is now available to Volvo clients. It will work the same as Mack Parts Locator. New options were added to the Mack Parts Locator menu (AMKLOC) and setup will include a new script that searches for the Volvo file.

Hot tips
Legend tip - Down arrow

After making changes in inventory programs, pressing the down arrow causes the program to skip the remaining fields. This works with Inventory File Maintenance (IN900), Vendor File Maintenance (IN910), Price Update Requests Maintenance (DP920R), etc. Pressing the down arrow key will also take you to the end of any report generators. This works in programs such as Inventory Report Generation (IG600Q), Request History Detail (AR472A), and Request Inventory Cost/Price Update (DP920A).

Legend tip - How do I write an invoice off to bad debt?

Bad debt is written off to a specific customer using the program On-Account Receipt Entry (AR300F).   Continued>

INFO 5 tip - Signing off the AS/400 prior to closing the Reflection session

When ending an AS/400 session, sign off the AS/400 prior to closing the Reflection session. Simply closing the Reflection session without signing off the AS/400 will often times leave jobs hanging on the AS/400. This can cause object lock problems, file access problems and reconnection problems.
