Karmak Distributors' Conference—Driving Your Company to Greatness
|
|
The upcoming Karmak
Distributors' Conference has a lot of exciting
information in store for you; we will provide you
with the road map to drive your company to
greatness! Aftermarket expert Bill Wade will provide
powerful strategies to improve workforce
productivity. Based on Jim Collins' book, Good to
Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap…and Others
Don't, Wade discusses Collins' theory on
success. Collins believes that the right people in
the right frame of mind can move a company forward.
When these people become passionate about what the
company does best, they pick up the momentum to
drive the company to greatness. Bill Wade will show
you how to put Collins' theories to work for your
company.

Karmak Director
Series in beta
Karmak's latest software product, Director
Series, is now in the beta-testing stage. Director Series' first
beta is TMW Equipment Repair in Joliet, Il, and was installed on
December 12, 2003. As of January 5, 2004, the company is using
Director Series in their day-to-day business operations. TMW owner
Tom Wojtas is reportedly excited about being able to use Director
Series to track preventive maintenance for their customers. The
employees and management at TMW are pleased that the QuickBooks
interface allows them to continue to use the accounting product
that they are familiar with.
Training for this beta site was provided via
WebEx over the Internet. Karmak also had technicians on-site in
December and January for installation and general implementation
of the Director Series product.
A second beta site has recently been added,
and Karmak plans to implement two more beta sites for Director
Series before general release of the product.

New features for Legend Volvo
dealers
Volvo Legend customers now have the ability to access
functionality currently available in Mack modules.
- Customers using Volvo Fleet Force cards can now use the
MackCharge functionality. Setup involves adding the MackCharge interface and
a payment type for Volvo Fleet Force. Once this has been set up, customers
are able to charge invoices to this Volvo Fleet Force payment type. Volvo
Fleet Force will utilize the same end-of-day procedures as MackCharge to
submit data to Volvo.
- Volvo Parts Locator is now available to Volvo
customers; it will work similar to the Mack Parts Locator. A new option has
been added that will allow for scheduling an automated process that will
build the data.
Questions regarding these modules may be directed to the
Legend Support Departments

A
promise is only as good as the person or company making it. Our
promise to you has been to provide innovative Windows-based

we have kept that promise.
ProfitMaster development is on schedule.
Development of our first Windows-based product began over three
years ago in October 2000. ProfitMaker, designed for
single-location service shops, was released in March 2001 and is
currently being used by nearly 60 companies. This was the first
step in fulfilling our promise to you.

How to protect
yourself from a virus
A virus is a program, not data,
which self-replicates. Some of the recent viruses infect your
computer through vulnerabilities in the operating system and
related products that are running by default on most Windows
computers. A connection to the internet via dialup, DSL, or cable
modem is enough to become infected.
There are also viruses/Trojan
programs that can be run on your computer by visiting a website.
Some of them aren't viewed as viruses, so anti-virus doesn't block
them. A good example of this is a program/add-in called "Hotbar"
that is installed when you visit particular websites. It
"directs" your web viewing all the while quietly
recording the sites you've visited and reporting those to a server.
