  Training: Karmak Legend® - INFO 5® - Director Series

New offerings through Karmak Training Center
In addition to Legend and INFO 5 training classes, the Karmak Training Center is now offering webinars. A webinar is an interactive class conducted over the Internet. The current webinar offering describes how to effectively use the Legend DocWizard documentation CD. Presently, these webinars are being offered at no charge, so reserve your space today. Director Series training
Online webinars in our new Director Series software is now available for ProfitMaker® customers via WebEx technology. Director Series has two main applications: PartsDirector™ and ServiceDirector™. With a click of the mouse, PartsDirector increases inventory efficiency and improves your parts sales opportunities. It is available as a standalone parts inventory application. ServiceDirector, which includes PartsDirector, raises your service operation profitability by tracking all preventive maintenance needs, analyzing repair orders, and tracking service time and parts.

Karmak announces availability of Decisiv interface

In keeping with our commitment to work cooperatively with truck manufacturers and applicable third-party software providers, Karmak has developed an extract and download utility for DecisivPricing and Diamond Estimating System users. This utility allows you to pull customer and vehicle information from your Legend or INFO 5 system and transport that information to Decisiv to be loaded into Decisiv/DES. Program modifications designed to benefit your business and make the system even more efficient have been completed. INFO 5 Mack Level IV pricing enhancement

In a letter to Mack Distributor Principals and Parts Managers dated March 19, 2004, Mack announced they would be implementing changes to the Level IV price level for dealer reimbursements and pricing for major fleets. This change was manifested in the Mack price tapes distributed to INFO 5 customers beginning April 1, 2004.

At that time, Karmak was unable to accommodate the need for a sixth price field in the Item Master that was needed by many Mack Dealers as a result of this change. However, an enhancement is now available that allows access to up to 10 price fields stored in the Price Master. Continued>

Duff Bell rejoins Karmak as Western Regional Manager

Duff Bell
Karmak recently named Duff Bell as Regional Manager for the Western territory, covering the states of California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Utah, and Hawaii. Duff rejoins Karmak after heading up Western Interior Services for the past two years. Prior to leaving Karmak in 2002, Duff had been the Western Area Manager for four years. Duff brings more than nine years of experience using Karmak business software systems and a vast amount of industry knowledge he has acquired through his 23 years working for a truck equipment and trailer company.

Randy Wilson named Manager of Sales Support

Randy Wilson
Randy Wilson was recently named Karmak's new Manager of Sales Support. Randy joined Karmak in 1998 with extensive experience as manager and branch manager for companies in the Midwest. His positions in Karmak’s Training, New Accounts, and ProfitMaster Services groups, as well as his knowledge of Karmak applications and industry practices, led to his appointment as Applications Consultant last year. In his new position, Randy will manage a staff of six customer-base sales and support personnel.

Catherine Harms named new Applications Consultant

Catherine Harms
Catherine Harms was recently named Karmak's newest Applications Consultant. Catherine joined Karmak eight years ago with a background in the heavy-duty industry and computer sales. She has served as the Regional Manager for the Western U.S. territory for the past four years. Her extensive experience working with Karmak customers across the country in sales, training, and installations, made her an ideal candidate for the position. Catherine has a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of Illinois, and currently lives in Sacramento, Calif.

Don’t we all like to save money? Don’t we generally try to get the best deals we can? If you include yourself in this majority of cost-conscious consumers, then make sure you take advantage of Karmak’s money-saving support payment option. Scheduling and performing Legend software upgrades

Calling Karmak’s System Support Department prior to performing software upgrades can save you time and money. 

If you are planning on upgrading your OpenVMS and/or Legend software on your own, don’t forget to make System Support aware of when you plan on performing the upgrade. We can designate a time to review the instructions with you, free of charge, to insure you understand the commands and know what to expect. 

In addition, when we know far enough in advance that multiple companies are being upgraded, we will assign a personal on-call System Support Representative to your company to quickly address any issues you may encounter.

Are you getting good Legend backups? 

If you’ve ever lost a disk drive, you know how important it is to have a good backup of your system. Making sure you are getting a good backup each night is as easy as changing your backup tape daily and quickly reviewing the BACKUP.LOG report the next morning to make sure the NO TAPE message did not print.

If your backup was successful and finished correctly, simply change out the tape for the next night’s backup. You should have a minimum of eight tapes that you are rotating (one for each day of the week and one for month end). It is also highly recommended that you make sure to revolve the backup tapes off site or allocate to a fireproof safe to ensure their safety in the event of a catastrophe. Continued>
