Recoup fuel costs
with new
delivery surcharge option
In
response to rising fuel costs and numerous customer
requests, modifications for Karmak Legend Version 5.8-1
and INFO 5 Version 7.2 will include a new delivery
surcharge option for counter tickets. This
new option allows you to set up delivery surcharges by
percentage (or by a flat rate for Legend) and specify
whether the surcharge will be applied to the total for
parts only or the pre-tax invoice total. The option is now
available with Legend 5.8-1, and is planned for a future
release of INFO 5 Version 7.2 PTF.
Legend
customers must be on Version 5.8-1 to use this
enhancement. Prior versions of the software require an
upgrade to Version 5.8-1. If you are currently on Version
5.8-1, please contact Systems Support at 1-888-671-6010 or
to get the latest version of Parts Order Entry/Processing (PO120)
and the new Branch Option File line. If you are running a
previous version, please contact Shawna Morton at
1-800-252-7625 or to order your
Version 5.8-1 upgrade.
See the
links below for details on this new enhancement. |

Cores: seven rules for managing cores
by J. Richard Schien, President/CEO of Karmak, Inc.
For many dealers and distributors, cores are bad news. They are a “necessary
evil” that costs the business money…often lots of money. However, if they are
properly managed, cores can make you money. It is our intention to show you how
you can make money with cores.
Cores can Make You Money
Making money with cores is not magic. However, it does require good core
control methodology and firm discipline. The following seven rules will all but
ensure your business generates a profit on cores.
1) Price cores to make a profit.
Many dealers/distributors think that “marking up” cores is a waste of time
since all cores will eventually be returned. However, industry figures indicate
that somewhere between 16% and 25% of all cores sold will never be returned. If
you handle about $200,000 per year in core sales and 10% of the cores are never
returned, you could realize a $5,000 profit each year by marking up cores at a
25% margin. Continued>
