Karmak conference hits a home run in St. LouisMore than 200 dealers and distributors from 98 companies attended Karmak’s annual user conference, held recently at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark hotel. Attendees and baseball fans alike went home winners as the conference came to a conclusion on October 27, and the St. Louis Cardinals scored a World Series victory. Feedback from both customers and employees has been very positive, making it one of the most successful conferences in Karmak’s 25-year history. Customers enjoyed productive training classes, roundtable sessions, help desk one-on-ones, security labs, OEM meetings, and product demonstrations, while Karmak gained valuable feedback on current and future products and services. In between training and networking sessions, attendees also enjoyed some lighter moments. Continued> |

modules slated for Real-time Performance Monitor 1.3Several new modules will be available with the next release of Real-time Performance Monitor (RPM). In addition to the existing Service and Sales Management modules, Version 1.3 will offer Parts, Accounting, Lease/Rental, and the new Customer Sales Watch module. RPM offers browser-based dashboards of real-time information displayed in customized views, and is fully integrated with Karmak Legend®, INFO 5®, and ProfitMaster® business systems. The Customer Sales Watch module lets you track and analyze customers’ buying trends, create customized views of your customer sales data, and optionally export data to spreadsheets, documents, e-mail, or virtually any CRM program on the market.
Additional enhancements include the ability to place multiple RPM views on screen at one time and drill down to more detailed data from any one of the views on screen. Enhanced data export functions will include XML, CSV, and tab delimited formats. For a list of enhancements and benefits with RPM 1.3, click here. Watch for more information in early 2007.

Legend Access terminal emulation softwareKarmak's new Legend Access terminal emulation software is now available. The program allows users to connect to and run applications on the Legend business system from their Windows-based PC, and provides an alternative to KEA 420 which has been discontinued by Attachmate. Legend Access incorporates many features based on customer feedback, and offers these benefits:
Legend Access is available in English and Spanish, with French coming soon. For pricing and additional information on Legend Access, contact your Karmak sales representative, or call 800-622-6211.
A new interface for Gasboy 1000 series pumps has just been released for Legend business systems. This interface allows facilities to issue a gas credit card to a customer and specific unit. This gas credit card can then be used to make a fuel purchase at a Gasboy pump, which tracks the number of gallons, miles since last fill up, price per gallon, and unit information. The Gasboy software is then used to gather transactions on a daily basis, transmit the transactions to the business system, and then import the transactions into sales orders using a miscellaneous billing option for the fuel charge. Contact your Karmak sales representative, or call 800-622-6211 for details.

The Karmak Application Service Provider (ASP) network service offers performance similar to a branch location running off the headquarters' server, but without the worries of day-to-day hardware system maintenance. No matter where you are located—across the U.S., Canada, or Mexico—you can run your Karmak business system on our ASP network.
ASP is a good option for companies that want to reduce the cost, time, and space requirements of maintaining servers on-site. Regular server maintenance, nightly back-ups, price tape loading, and basic system manager functions are performed by experienced Karmak technicians. Karmak pays for Operating System user monthlies, CPU monthlies, and server maintenance expenses. Legend grey matter software is also available for a low monthly license fee. In addition, the ASP allows Karmak Support to resolve incidents faster, since they have instant access to your system. Continued>
In response to customer feedback, Legend's Cycle Counting program has been changed in Version 5.8 to facilitate cycle count setup. Maintain Table of Dates and Location Ranges (CY100) lets you maintain a table of cycle count dates and the range of parts to be counted, either by part number or by location. You can flag count records as permanent or temporary. Previously, the default was permanent, which required an additional step each time the user wanted to add a temporary record to the file. Now the program default is temporary, which deletes the record from the cycle count file after the count sheets are printed for that day, rather than saving the file permanently and running it year after year. Since the majority of cycle count tables change from year to year, this enhancement will save many users the time and trouble of changing the permanent flag each time they perform a cycle count.
Periodic cycle counts allow you to identify discrepancies and problems quickly, helping to streamline year-end physical inventory procedures. For questions on the Cycle Counting and Physical Inventory modules, see your DocWizard documentation CD, or contact Legend Parts & Service Support at 1-888-671-6008 or .
