What's new at Karmak?

Legend Access available for Windows Vista

Karmak recently released Legend Access which is Certified for Windows Vista. Legend Access allows you to connect to and run applications on your Karmak Legend business system from a Windows-based PC. It offers simple installation, pre-configured settings, and customizable options that help you use your business system more efficiently.

"Our customers expect high quality software solutions that contain the most up-to-date features," said Bill Healy, Karmak President/CEO. "By working with Microsoft, we feel confident that Legend Access will provide users of Windows Vista with enhanced reliability, security, and compatibility."

INFO 5 Version 7.2A now in general release

We are pleased to announce that INFO 5 Version 7.2A is available for general release. The Version 7.2A Update CD will be sent to you after you have completed the steps that were outlined in the letter sent to INFO 5 clients on April 24, 2007, and your system meets the following requirements:

Please contact INFO 5 Support if your system does not meet all of the above requirements and needs to be upgraded. For a complete list of the many enhancements and fixes that were made to 7.2A, please refer to Appendix A in the Version 7.2A Update Manual.

Karmak to provide Ford integration through Oxlo Dealer Integration Network

Karmak and Oxlo Systems announce an agreement for Oxlo to provide Ford dealer communication system integration for Karmak Legend business systems. By leveraging the Oxlo Dealer Integration Network, Karmak’s Legend systems will quickly integrate with Ford.

“We’re excited to extend our services to the heavy-duty trucking market, and with Karmak’s experience and market presence they’re clearly the best partner for us,” commented Jim Lejeal, Oxlo CEO.

The new integration services offered by Karmak will provide services that span a wide array of factory communications at Ford, including parts, warranty, and sales integrations. The integrations were completed in January and the pilot program has just completed, enabling Karmak truck dealers to automate Ford communications without manual effort or re-entry of data. The significant time savings provided by the new Ford system will allow dealers more time to focus on customers and on growing their business.

Canadian cheque requirements implemented for Legend and INFO 5 systems

Effective May 1, 2007, Legend and INFO 5 software changes were completed to comply with new Canadian Payments Association (CPA) specifications for business cheques, well ahead of the CPA target date of June 30, 2007.

According to the CPA website, www.cdnpay.ca, “...financial institutions will continue to process 'old format' business cheques until implementation of the new clearing process begins in the latter part of 2008.” As a result, you should have ample time to use your existing supply of cheques.

Canadian customers will receive copies of the approved cheque forms to assist them in ordering from their preferred forms providers. Please note that Legend users will need to be on Version 5.8-1 to take advantage of these updated programs. Karmak demos are a hit at industry shows

Karmak's latest products were well received at recent industry shows, including the American Truck Dealers 2007 Convention held in San Diego, CA this April. Demos of our new ProfitMaster line were a big hit with attendees, with Real-time Performance Monitor (RPM) and the upcoming Service Management module drawing a great deal of interest.

RPM provides a visual representation of real-time business data and is currently available for Service and Sales Management modules, with Parts, Accounting, and Customer Sales Watch modules coming soon. ProfitMaster Service Management, which is scheduled for beta testing soon, offers flexible Preventive Maintenance scheduling, quick repair order entry, and advanced tracking and analysis features.

Karmak appoints Jeff Eudy Vice President of Sales

Jeff Eudy has been named Karmak’s new Vice President of Sales. Jeff brings 30 years of experience in the truck aftermarket industry to this new position, serving as Karmak’s Area Manager for the eastern division for the last seven years. Jeff joined Karmak in 1999 as Regional Manager and was promoted to Area Manager in 2000. His background includes sales and marketing positions at heavy-duty dealerships, warehouse distributors, and leasing companies.

"Jeff brings a significant contribution to not only sales but to Karmak's reputation and business integrity in the industry," said Bill Healy, President/CEO.

Clint Rosser named new Manager of OEM and Technical Services

Karmak recently promoted Clint Rosser to the newly-created position of Manager of OEM and Technical Services. In this role, Clint is responsible for managing the deployment process for Karmak’s OEM software products and is a point of contact for OEMs regarding deployment status. He also oversees the technical services team, which is responsible for installations and systems support for ProfitMaster customers. Clint joined Karmak in 2004 as a Training Specialist, bringing with him more than 12 years of experience in customer service and management positions. He holds a degree from ITT Tech.

Regarding his promotion, Clint states, "I'm excited to be in this new position and look forward to assisting the current and future OEM projects."
