OpenVMS compatible with Intel's Itanium processors

Itanium

  • Intel’s family of 64-bit CPU processors for servers, including Itanium (code named Merced), Itanium2 (code named McKinley), Madison, and future CPUs 
  • General availability of HP Itanium systems with OpenVMS is expected in 2004

Alpha/OpenVMS

  • More than 10 million users and 400,000 systems currently run OpenVMS, including hospitals, large banks, telephone companies, government, the military, and stock exchanges 
  • New Alpha models will continue to be introduced through 2004 
  • Alpha systems will be manufactured until at least 2006 
  • HP’s support for OpenVMS on Alpha will continue into 2011
