Did You Know?
by Paul Reynolds
How many parts does your company buy out locally each
day? 10? 20? 50? How many of these parts should be stocked in your inventory?
You buy these parts locally to service your customer.

INFO 5
Release 7.0--Better Than Ever
INFO 5 Release 7.0 is currently
available on CD-ROM. This method of installation is faster, more efficient and more
reliable than the tape method, and clients will no longer be required to return tapes to
Karmak. The CD is theirs to keep. Because a CD is much smaller and lighter than a tape
cartridge, shipping costs will also be reduced.

Important Reminders
INFO 5 Clients:
- It is very important for clients to reference the invoice number(s)
on all checks they send to Karmak. With the invoice number clearly written on the check,
this helps ensure the payment is posted to the correct invoice number(s) and the
clients account will remain accurate.
- We are still waiting for some INFO 5 clients to return their Client
Information Request Form. This information will help us send the appropriate information
to the correct contacts at our client locations. If you lost your form, e-mail
Krissy Sinor, or call INFO 5 Support at 1-800-865-8991
to request a new form.
Hot Tips
Shift+? clears a date
field in Payroll. If you want to 'un-terminate' (re-activate) an employee, this will do
the trick.
Check for out-of-balance reports every
day. If any sub-ledger is out of balance, each day that goes by complicates the task of
finding the problem and resolving it.
You can reprint any months'
Inventory Quantity Adjustment (AR404) report by logging into the
system manager account and at the $ prompt, jump to the proper UIC. Then enter PRINT/DEV=printername
HIST:AR404_mmyyyy_b.LST, where mm = month and yyyy = year and b = branch.
Did you know you can access G/L periods older than
the prior year from Menu AGL07? Several options were added to the G/L Past
Period Archive Menu (Menu AGL07) as part of Release 6.0,
allowing you to access the G/L information from any previous year as long as that
information still resides on your AS/400. For more information, see Chapter 10 of the G/L Manual.*

Karmak offers several OEM modules
Enhancements prevail in INFO 5 Release 7.0
This release mark the first major enhancement release
since March 1995
With more than 25 enhancements included with Release 7.0 of
the INFO 5 Software Package, clients will definitely see several stand out.
First and foremost, most clients will be
able to receive the update on CD-ROM, which will greatly reduce the LODRUN process.
Another System-wide enhancement falls more behind-the-scenes, but
clients will notice that they will have to evaluate the status of queries to accommodate
for nearly every file in the System being externally described.

eOrder Entry interfaces with INFO 5
The INFO
5 Remote Order Entry system is nothing new. The existing module allows a clients
customers to use a PC with a modem to dial into the clients AS/400 system and place
parts orders.
Through this option, customers may inquire about available quantities
on-hand and place orders 24 hours a day (other than during the dedicated portion of
End-of-Day.)
